Tooth hurts more after root canal

What happens to a tooth after a root canal is done? The most common source of pain after a root canal is the inflammation of tissues around the tooth’s root.

Once the root canal is complete, the tooth should be back to full functioning and should not cause any more pain. Although placement of a crown helps protect the treated root from fracturing during chewing, a crack may still develop years later.
