Root canal tooth sensitive to pressure

How long does your tooth stay sensitive after a root canal? Does a sensitive tooth always need a root canal? Should my tooth be sensitive after a filling? An infected root canal can usually be retreate unless the root is cracked or the tooth has broken below the gum line.

In these cases, tooth extraction may be necessary.

Cement or Air Forced Through the Root Tip. It’s possible to overfill a root canal with dental cement , causing a bit of the material to ooze out of the root tip. Common causes of tooth sensitivity include brushing too har using a hard-bristled toothbrush and applying tooth-whitening products.

You may also feel pressure sensitivity due to a broken tooth , tooth decay , a tooth abscess , tooth-grinding or eating acidic foods. Hidden cracks or fractures can also cause discomfort to the tooth when biting down. As a tooth begins to decay, bacteria can build up in the pulp chamber and irritate the nerve in the root of the tooth.

The resulting infection from accumulated bacteria is what causes pain. Cleaning out the pulp chamber and root canal alleviates the source of the tooth pain.

Unfortunately, even after the root canal is complete a patient may continue to experience pain when biting or chewing. If your tooth pain is caused by a left over nerve, your tooth will be sensitive to hot and cold. On the other han if the pain is caused by a bacterial infection, your tooth will be sensitive to pressure.

A repeat root canal treatment will have to be scheduled with your dentist or endodontist to solve this problem. It’s still possible to bite down and crack the root or an existing crack under the crown may grow down the root. This may cause pain when biting down on the crown in certain ways. Sometimes the pain will come and go. After a root canal , the tooth will no longer be sensitive to temperature , but it still will respond to pressure.

This means that if you felt pain when you bit down before the root canal , you probably will not feel it as intensely as before, but you may feel it from time to time. Many times immediately after a root canal, the tooth can still have sensitivity to touch or bite. This usually subsides within 3-days.

Pain Under Crown Months After Root Canal ? But since the crown, I have had sensitivity just by barely touching the sides of my tooth. In general, after a root canal , teeth are sensitive to pressure. There may be some throbbing and aching.

A root canal involves deep cleaning inside the canals (the inner chamber of the root) of your tooth, which can in turn irritate surrounding nerves and gums.

The pain shouldn’t last forever. Abscess: Abscesses can develop as an oral infection, like a root canal infection or gum disease, spreads. Abscesses are painful pockets of pus that can collect around the tooth’s roots and may extend through the side of the gums. Abscesses may cause pain when pressure is applied to them, as with chewing or biting.

Still beats how the tooth was before the root canal and crown, though, so no complaints. A root canal has two meanings: the first refers to the inner tooth situated between the tooth roots and the pulp. The second refers to the tooth treatment aimed at the removal of infected material and elimination of a toothache.

Endodontic treatment of the tooth may be required. I had a root canal mo ago. The tooth could be suffering from a temporary injury and may need a week or two to recover.

The tooth is still sensitive when I tap it on the side, unlike other teeth.
