Deep root filling

A single tooth can have more than root canal. When root canal treatment is needed. Root canal treatment is only required when dental X-rays show that the pulp has been damaged by a bacterial infection. Fact, I was taught this in dental school years ago, but have since learned differently! During a filling , your dentist fills these holes with a substance, such as amalgam or.

When your dentist says a filling is deep - he is warning you that the filling is close to the nerve and there is a chance that the tooth may not respond to efforts to save it, thus dying off and needing root canal treatment.

A special lining will often be used to try and maintain the tooth’s vitality. The dentist may decide to place a soothing temporary restoration first. If the filling is very deep and nothing else settles the pain, a root canal treatment may be necessary. See our page on tips on dealing with any toothache at home. He said that the white fillings are not as good as the silver fillings and that if they are deep , they are pressing down against the nerve in the tooth and therefore I had to have two root canals to fix my pain in the deep filling teeth.

Yesterday I had a very deep filling. It was a replacement of an old filling. Cleaning and filling the root canal.

After the pulp has been remove your dentist will clean and enlarge the root canal. Your dentist will use a series of small files to enlarge the canals and make them a regular shape so they can be filled. The root canal is usually very narrow, which makes it difficult to fill. However, the day after i was fine and the day after that the pain started. I callled my dentist and he stated that it was a deep filling and i need to either have a root canal or extraction.

In these circumstances, it is being assumed that tooth has reversible pulpitis, but if the tooth was to become painful a few months or even years later, it would suggest that it was in fact irreversible and the nerve subsequently died. It is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury: The infection can cause an abscess. One of four things will happen: Patient feels cold (Normal). Treatment: Filling Patient feels more cold then normal and or pain.

Patient feels extreme cold and or pain and it lingers afterwards (Inflame pulpitis, non reversible). I had a deep filling a few years ago and it does throb for a few weeks as the filling will be close to the nerve. NOT infected) and settled down on its own.

Your course of antibiotics was likely a placebo. Extensive decay underneath the filling would lead someone to consider extracting it. The patient was able to avoid needing a root canal at this. Any pain you experience after the numbness has worn off will just be gum pain, for example if they were caught by an instrument. In which case, apply a little bonjela, or something similar, and you will be fine!

Rarely, when your filling falls out, it will reveal a deep cavity or exposure to the nerve of the tooth.

In this case, the only option is to have a root canal followed by placement of a crown. In very rare situations, the loss of a filling or fractured tooth may be so severe that the only option is extraction. Your dentist may still attempt to fill the tooth, then wait and see if the filling solves any pain or discomfort you may feel.

If it does, the filling will be left as is. If the edges of the dental filling are not shaped properly or they are purely smoothe the adjacent teeth or gums may become irritated and cause a tooth pain after filling. The inter-proximal areas between the filling material and the adjacent tooth is the usual suspect for this kind of problems.

I can tell you from experience and having a filling re-done last monday that it can take a few weeks to settle down. Close to the nerve means that besides the actually cavity insulting the nerve there is an advancing front of bacteria and their acid byproducts even closer to the nerve so that even if there is no infection in the nerve, the nerve is still insulted and that insult causes pain. I do it almost on a daily basis.

The secret to preventing root canals from deep decay is by using Ozone.
