Holistic dentistry root canal

Is there such a thing as a holistic root canal? Are root canals covered by dental insurance? Will a regular dentist do a root canal? Why should an endodontist perform your root canal?

The root canal is a natural chamber inside of the tooth that houses the dental pulp , which contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, and nerves. The pulp is responsible for nourishing the tooth and transmitting pain and sensitivity signals to the brain.

Prior to getting a root canal procedure make sure you consult a dentist. The steps involved include: An X-ray: Whenever a dentist considers that a patient needs a root canal they examine an existing X-ray or take one to identify the region where the decay is situated. Anesthesia: Some local anesthesia is used on the tooth affected. Many people are unaware that root canals are not any.

A tooth may die from internal or external trauma causing an irreversible pulpitis (inflammation of the pulp or nerve). It penetrates beyond the drilled area and kills bacteria. This is a great alternative if your tooth’s nerves are not severely damaged yet. It allows the dentist to save more of your tooth and possibly avoid a root canal all-together.

Good dentistry , like good medicine , starts with a proper diagnosis of the tooth.

A root canal is a treatment , not a diagnosis. In order to confirm a proper diagnosis, we need to establish two facts: the cause and the effect. Some dentists argue that a diagnosis is academic and a waste of a patient’s time.

Traditional root canal therapy is performed on a localized area. In theory, the removal of all material within the pulp chamber nerves, blood vessels and other tissues should eliminate the infection. When the canal is cleaned and seale no further problems should occur. Especially dentists who remove root canals carefully and properly. Not all root canal removals are the same.

Many holistic dentists are against performing root canals. Root canal teeth are dead. They believe that the use of chemicals in sterilizing agents, in addition to bacteria becoming trapped in the canal as a result of the procedure, can cause long-term health effects.

Holistic dentists will not use amalgam, nickel, or other metals to fill cavities. They argue in favor of fluoridating water supplies and recommend fluoride drops for infants. They point to research showing a decrease in cavity rates in areas where the water is fluoridated. A better name for the procedure is a “ root -filled tooth”.

The nerve inside a tooth can get inflamed or infected from a very large cavity, or from trauma. Fundamental to the understanding supporting holistic dentistry is that dental procedures and materials can have an effect on your whole body and not just your teeth. A holistic dentist will recommend a solution that focuses on your entire body instead of just dealing with the symptoms in your mouth.

Your body will be able to fight off the infection, and your teeth will heal.

The holistic dentist solution for a root canale problem would be to strengthen your body’s immune system. Some people fear root canals because they believe them to be painful. The efficacy of the endodontic procedure has been debated for the past several years.

We understand the reasons patients and dental professionals may question root canal therapy. Dentists are taught in school to save teeth. Most dentists will not recommend extracting a tooth that can be “saved” with a root canal. Is a dental implant an alternative treatment to a root canal? People who need root canals may choose to replace teeth with implants instead of doing root canals once they understand all the risks, treatment.

Endotontists and traditional general dentists will discuss the wonders of root canals, whilst naturopathic doctors, functional MDs, DOs, biological dentists, holistic dentists will tell you this bit of wisdoencourage patients to RESEARCH root canal procedures, associate risk and importantly, the available alternatives.
