Swelling after endodontic treatment

Known technically as endodontic therapy , a root canal is a type of oral surgery that involves removing nerve and other pulp tissue from a diseased tooth and filling the void with a special inert substance. Treatment options include medications and icing. Given below are the various causes and treatment options for dealing with this issue.

A swelling that occurs in the innermost section of the root, that is, in the root canal, is known as a root canal swelling. They can leave you with pain , swelling , black eyes and worse.

Sometimes when the infection has had time to advance, even after aggressive antibiotic treatment and a root canal, the bacteria lingers, causing the area to flare up again. Yes, this is a dental emergency. The endodontic treatment included accessing the root canal(s), hand instrumentation for extirpation, debridement, and shaping the canals, as necessary.

In retreatment, the gutta-percha was dissolved by xylene. The swelling may or may not be. Keep cold pack in place minutes and then repeat minutes later.

If you do not have swelling , often rinsing your mouth with warm salt water will help speed the healing process. You may apply and adopt some of these methods to curb the pain inflicted by the treatment. Root canal pain, bothering your jaw, can be treated with over-the-counter pain relievers or antibiotics that are prescribed by your endodontist. Make sure that you complete the course prescribed. Failing to do so, may invite pain and discomfort in the long run.

Recommended: If you have swelling or bacterial drainage associated with your tooth, an antibiotic may be prescribed. If you develop any swelling after treatment call your dentist for post-op appointment.
