Percussion sensitivity after root canal

A percussion - sensitive tooth indicates inflammation in the periodontal ligament. This pain can be the result of either a vital or nonvital tooth. Certainly, the inflammation from a hyperemic tooth can go to the PDL, which can result in percussion sensitivity.

Also, hyperocclusion in a perfectly normal tooth can transfer inflammation to the PDL. Two Weeks After Root Canal : Some Cold Sensitivity , Gum Twinges (Soreness), and Percussion Sensivity Hi everyone! New to the forums but so grateful for this resource!

Just got my first root canal treatment done recently. Had a deep filling that had been bothering me for months in tooth no. Should my RC still have shooting pains when. Dentist commented that pulp was hyperaemic confirming need for RCT.

After the RCT I went on an antibiotic for about a week. It has to be done in certain cases when the bacteria reach the root and in order to save the teeth. It is good to maintain a good oral health and maintain a regular dental health check up.

Root canal therapy is a long process and a bit painful.

After incessant tooth pain brings you to the dentist, you learn the cause of your discomfort: you have a badly damaged or decayed tooth. You schedule a root canal (formally known as an endodontic treatment) with Evanson DDS and have the procedure completed. Some discomfort after a root canal is not uncommon. Often times Advil is sufficient to relieve this pain. Causes of sensitivity after a root canal can be numerous, including a cracked or split tooth, accessory canals in a tooth, a periodontal infection, irritation from root canal medicines, or resolution of an abscess.

I noticed they were sensitive to tapping ,one of them has just been crowned. After root canal preparation, patients were entered one of these groups randomly. A root canal involves deep cleaning inside the canals (the inner chamber of the root ) of your tooth, which can in turn. In more advanced cases, a sharp pain when biting down or lingering irritation after eating hot or cold foods can signal decay or damage to the pulp inside your tooth, which may require a root canal to clean it out. After this dentist visit, ask how you can follow your treatment by using special fluoride gel, rinse or toothpaste at home to make.

Your dentist recommended and has completed a root canal to save the affected tooth. However, you are still experiencing pain in the area when biting. You may be asking yourself how this is possible. After all, the dentist explained that a root canal removes the inner pulp and nerve of the tooth.

Persistent Pain Following Root Canal Treatment. If you have no response to endo ice and it hurts to percussion , the nerve is already dead and the infection has traveled through your tooth out the apex into your bone of your jaw- you also need a root canal. Well, the tooth right next to it had a root canal over years ago and it feels the same when you tap on it.

What I thought was an abcess my dentist and RDA friend are saying is just the bone under the gum.

If upon re-evaluation at the weeks, sensitivity to percussion and size of the periapical lesion improve vertical root fracture could be more confidently ruled out, and endodontic retreatment could be completed. At the week evaluation appointment, three imporatant findings were noted: 1. Temporary restoration was intact 2. Most teeth that have undergone a root canal will not be sensitive at all. This is because all the nerve and pulp has been cleaned out from the inside. There may be a period of post-op discomfort, not for long, and not to the hot and cold triggers that many people find painful when their tooth is so damaged that it needs a root canal in the first place. On 2nd sitting for rct, while inserting a file into root canal , piercing pain felt.

I personally in my mouth have experienced this with a cracked root after a root canal treatment, and I found it interesting how the tooth had pain and sensitivity even after a root canal. I have to take pain killer. It would probably put more weight on perio being the issue.

The best way to recognize the symptoms of a failed root canal is simply to remain in close contact with your dentist. She should be keeping track of your development after the procedure and will know if something goes wrong. After my root canal I had pain in the tooth with the x-ray showing the end of the root not treated. The dentist redid the root canal to his satisfaction on x-ray. I still had mild pain with sideways pressure and the dentist told me that sometimes happens if a small twig of the nerve is left.

Nothing to be done about it.
