Sensitivity after root canal and crown

What happens if I never crowned my tooth after a root canal? Why does my tooth hurt after root canal and Crown? What causes pain after root canal and Crown?


Consider the six possible causes of pain after a root canal according to dental health advice from Dr. Richard Mitchell, BDS and take the necessary steps to have it corrected.

Perhaps you had a perfect root canal performed. The infected tooth is cleaned out, sealed properly and built up with a flawless filling or crown. But since the crown , I have had sensitivity just by barely touching the sides of my tooth. Root exposure-Is there any tooth or root structure below the crown that is visible.


This can possibly make the crown sensitive , but you need to know why there is exposure such as having receding gums or the gum being slightly receded after the crown preparation. They are the source of any post root canal pain. The possible causes of pain are numerous, and include inflammation of the tissues at the end of the tooth root after root canal.


This inflammation may be due to extra filer in the root or irritation of the tissues during the root canal procedure.

I did have a root canal on my tooth after crown had fallen off within days and then put back on. The pain the second time crown was put on was unbearable so next day had the root canal. I’m on day number and when I bite down on tooth it is.


Possibilities of pain after Root canal treatment. Likely possibility that one of the Adjacent tooth or Opposing tooth on the same side of the arch may be having pulpitis. Often times Advil is sufficient to relieve this pain. Causes of sensitivity after a root canal can be numerous, including a cracked or split tooth, accessory canals in a tooth, a periodontal infection, irritation from root canal medicines, or resolution of an abscess. Occasionally, even after such treatment, the infection comes back and further treatment may include replacing the crown. Additionally, like any other tooth, a crowned tooth sometimes develops a fracture in the root.


A look at pain after a root canal , a common complaint that can last for some time. I have noticed a variance on crowns done after root canals by the same dentist. Once a tooth has a root canal it is brittle because the blood supply to the tooth has been filled in.

A root canal is needed when a tooth becomes irreversibly inflamed and damaged. It’s still possible to bite down and crack the root or an existing crack under the crown may grow down the root. I had a cavity in one of my molars that was filled a year ago. After it was fille I had a lot a problem with the tooth and I ended up with a root canal treatment.


After the procedure, I got a temporary crown which also gave me problems. I had pressure pain and heat sensitivity. I went back to the dentist who saw no problems on X-rays. I needed a root canal , although the cavity was not near the root.
