Endodontic therapy

Is endodontic therapy the same as a root canal? Why does my root canal tooth hurt? Why need crown after root canal?


On our pages we use all of these terms interchangeably: nerve = nerve tissue = pulp tissue. It can also protect the tooth from future infections.

It is carried out in the pulp of the tooth, which is the root canal. Root canal therapy is used to remove nerves from the pulp of a tooth. When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp tissue and germs can cause infection. Inside the tooth, under the white enamel and hard layer called the dentin, is a soft tissue called the pulp.

Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth.
