Broken tooth that had root canal

Do root canals always work to save a tooth? What is the recovery time after a root canal? What are potential complications after a root canal? Why would an old root canal start causing pain? You probably assumed that the root canal and crown took care of the initial problem 1.

The crack may even be present below the gum line. But this is not always the case. The symptoms of cracked tooth syndrome can come and go. If the fracture is on the root and it hasn’t spread up the tooth or completely damaged the root , then root canal may be a valid route.


It is widely reported that a root canal is one of the more painful procedures but if there is a chance to save the tooth you may as well give it a shot. This type of crack almost always affects the nerve of the tooth.

A patient comes in with a broken tooth (either with or without prior root canal treatment) and would like their tooth fixed. This poses a dilemma for dentists. Last Wednesday, September had old root canal tooth removed and bone graft had to be put in for my jaw not to sink.


Anyway went to a biological dentist and had procedure done. I will say as far as I can tell the itching has stopped through out my body, I do feel a little more like my old self, I am sleeping longer at night. About a week after the root canal , a third of the tooth broke away.


Now I can feel a place where there is another broken part. The wire you feel coming out of the top of the root may be the post that was placed into the root canal space to hold the core. A: Broken root canaled tooth.


If that is the case, then the core material failed and is still inside the crown. Provided the fracture of the core was not due to recurrent decay,.
