Pain after apicoectomy

Is this normal after an apicoectomy? What to expect with an apicoectomy? After you procedure, it is very important to follow post-operative instructions to prevent any serious complications.

Pain Before the anesthesia has worn off, you can try over the counter medications for the relief of pain. Aspirin, Tylenol or ibuprofen. While I was not experiencing any symptoms, my dentist noticed a spot in the tissue near a root, thus the apicoectomy.

One way to ease pain after apicoectomy surgery is to apply ice to the affected area. Use ice for minutes, then remove the ice to give your mouth a break for another minutes. Continue alternating this way until you feel pain relief. It is a good idea to begin taking your pain medications while you are still numb.

While taking narcotic pain medications, do not drink alcoholic beverages, drive, or operate any machinery for hours after the last dose of narcotic pain medicine. Some patients experience nausea and or vomiting as a result of narcotic pain medications. The cost of an apicoectomy procedure depends upon many variables!

Vicodin works well when it is taken hours after taking the Motrin. Some minor bleeding is expected after apicoectomy. Rinse 2x a day for one week. It will usually subside quickly, and stop within an hour or two after surgery.

A little oozing is normal and may persist for several hours. This should takeminutes.
