Upper first premolar roots

As mentioned in our text and charts above, an upper first premolar may have one or two roots. In this case, the tooth shown in the video seems to have just one (as evidenced by the x-rays of the tooth that are shown). This one root , however, has two separate canals. The function of this premolar is similar to that.

The roots of upper first premolars are very delicate and may curve quite sharply buccally , palatally , mesially or distally , so instrumentation needs to be carried out with great care. The upper first premolar has Mesial Marginal Developmental Groove in its mesial aspect.

It also has long central groove and no supplement groves on its occlusal surface. Also of the upper. Cams and Skidmore reported that the incidence of maxillary first premolars with three roots , three canals, and three foramina was of the cases studied. The root is considerably shorter than in the canine, and distal curvature is not uncommon. If the mesiodistal distance distance is equal to or wider in the root than the crown, expect three roots.

The number of canals each first premolar have – have canals, have canal, and have canals. Type IV, are Type II, are Type I. Vertucci and Gegauff found of 4maxillary first premolars to have three canals: 0. The four first premolars are the most commonly removed teeth, in 48.

The removal of only the maxillary first premolars is the second likeliest option, in 14. Maxillary Second Premolar. Similar to the first premolar in coronal morphology, the second premolar varies mainly in root form. Its crown is narrower in the buccal-palatal dimension and slightly wider in the mesial-distal.

The canal orifice is centrally located but often appears more as a slot than as a single ovoid opening. However, the upper second premolar has no MMDG and many supplemental groves. Although it usually has two canals, it may rarely have three and this third canal can easily be missed. The crowns of maxillary premolars have a buccal and palatal cusp separated by a straight fissure.

The maxillary first premolar has two roots , other premolars have a single root. In the maxillary first premolar , this fissure extends across the mesial marginal ridge onto the mesial crown surface. How is the position of the base of the pulp chamber in the upper second different to the upper first premolar ? Placed further apically than upper first before narrowing to single root canal How is the pulp cavity shaped in the upper second premolars ? The lower premolars and the upper second premolar usually have one root. A primary exception to this rule would be upper premolars where from a statistical standpoint the presence of either just one or two roots runs practically neck and neck. Al-Ghananeem, Chaparro) Fused tooth roots - More common than the occurrence of extra roots is the issue of multi-rooted teeth (premolars, molars) having fused roots.

The video depicts access opening on a maxillary premolar. The location of the orifices can be seen in the video. Please mail us in case you need more.
