Temporary crown broke after root canal

So he took another mol and sent me home to wait. During the second appointment, the crown is fitte trimme and permanently cemented into place. In the meantime, the temporary crown didn’t feel right… it came loose, so I went in to get it re-glued. The original tooth remains under the crown , but it is shorter and thinner.


You can eat normally, and if you had a root canal previously, it will protect the tooth from splitting if the tooth becomes brittle.

After the root canal , my dentist put in a temporary filling to be left in place for two weeks or so until the infection cleared up.


Before the two weeks was up I broke off a portion of the tooth eating a cracker. I go back to the dentist next thursday and i am not wearing the crown right now. Many root canal failures happpen because patient don’t turn up for crowns.


Even after root canal treatment your teeth can have secondary decay , moreover at this point of time after RCT tooth becomes non vital and is more suspectible to fracture and to support the tooth in most cases it’s ideally indicated for crown post RCT. The infected tooth is cleaned out, sealed properly and built up with a flawless filling or crown. About a week after the root canal , a third of the tooth broke away.
