Nylon dentures

Dentists use flexible dentures to replace one or more of your missing teeth either in the upper or lower jaw.

Combinations of porcelain, acrylic resin, nylon and chrome cobalt metal are used to make dentures. In such a situation it is necessary to weigh all the pros and cons of each type of product, since among them there is no ideal, of course. When possible, keep appliance in water or a denture solution when not wearing it. Polyamide, or nylon , is an alternative material for removable dentures. Nylon dentures may be a good alternative. They do not release allergens and have acceptable water sorption. Polyamide, commonly named nylon , has been advocated as a flexible, non-allergenic alternative to PMMA (Figure 1).


Dentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic (plastic), nylon or metal. They fit snugly over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps. Gaps left by missing teeth can cause problems with eating and speech, and teeth either side of the gap may grow into the space at an angle. Gently pull the denture out of your mouth in the path in which they were inserted.

Dentures made with a flexible nylon base are often easier to fit and easier to manufacture, so patients may find that dentures made with a flexible base are made much more.
