Precision attachment removable partial denture

What is dental precision attachment? What could be used to replace my partial denture? What does denture, partial, fixed mean? A partial denture may have a plastic or metal base. Clasps or precision attachments connect the removable denture to your teeth.

Precision attachments are generally more esthetic than clasps.

Extracoronal precision attachments for removable partial dentures are recommended when: Less tooth reduction is required. A precision attachment is a precision-machined male and female (key and lock) housing that connects a removable partial denture to fixed bridgework The female part of the attachment is soldered to fixed crowns or bridgework the male part is attached to the partial denture. Removable partial dentures with precision attachments have additional benefits above and beyond traditional partial dentures.

While all removable partial dentures are a relatively stable option, precision-attachment partial dentures are designed specifically to prevent the muscular and gravitational forces from moving the partial denture during normal activity (such as speaking and eating). The removable partial denture is made to attach to natural teeth with devices called precision attachments. This is called a precision attachment partial denture. It requires a crown with part of a precision attachment in the abutment teeth.

A removable partial denture with precision attachments is also prone to fatigue and wear of the attachments with the eventual loss of retention. If the precision attachment fractures , it is often difficult to repair, and in many cases it is best to replace the prosthesis. The attachment itself becomes the clasp, rest, reciprocating and stabilizing element and is hidden inside the partial denture , which renders it invisible. The attachment also provides the retentive element necessary to retain the partial in the mouth at rest and during masticatory. Our partial dentures contain an attachment (s) that secure the denture onto the natural teeth of your patient.

This helps give the patient maximum comfort and ease of use, holding the denture securely in place for a confident smile. These dentures consist of two parts that are fixed and removable and these fixed and removable dentures are linked to each other by an attachment. It uses a double tilt retention mechanism thus preventing gravitational and muscular forces from dislodging the partial denture during function. These attachments help hide the clasps, so they are significantly less visible in your mouth. Some advantages to dental precision attachments include maintainable periodontal health, less force on abutment teeth, cosmetic appearance, longevity, and stability.

In some cases, a removable partial denture is made to attach to your natural teeth with devices called precision attachments. Crowns on your natural teeth are sometimes needed to improve the fit of a removable partial denture and they are usually required with attachments. Partial dentures with precision attachments generally cost more than those with clasps.

Attachment retained overdentures helps in distribution of masticatory forces, minimizes trauma to abutments and soft tissues, attenuate ridge resorption, improves the esthetics and retains proprioception.
