Postoperative pain after pulpectomy

Postoperative pain is the most common morbidity after GA for dental rehabilitation in children. Tooth extraction and pulp therapies of primary teeth ( pulpotomy and pulpectomy ) have been designated as painful dental procedures (PDPs) in previous studies, and postoperative pain may occur after these procedures. Pulpotomy is a vital pulp therapy approach and can be defined as the surgical removal of the coronal pulp of the vital and reversibly inflamed tooth. CONCLUSIONS: Hand files caused more postoperative pain after pulpectomy in primary maxillary molar teeth compared to the rotary system.

Many rotary file systems were introduce with the recent one, the Kedo-S. So the present study aimed to compare and evaluate the post – operative pain after pulpectomy using K-files, MTwo files and Kedo-S files in deciduous molars. After covering the radicular pulp with one of the capping material the teeth were permanently restored with stainless steel crown (SSC). In two-visit group, pulpectomy of root canals was carried out at the first visit and placement of SSC was performed at the second visit one week after the first appointment.

The mean postoperative pain scores were statistically significantly lower for the pulpotomy group, indicating more symptomatic relief in the pulpotomy group. Thus, it can be concluded that pulpotomy can be an alternative treatment for emergency relief of pain. Effects of pulpotomy or pulpectomy on endodontic-related pain.

Pre-operative pain values are normalized to 1. The two horizontal bars for pulpotomy and pulpectomy groups represent the sample size weighted mean reduction in pain.

Therefore, pain management in endodontic treatment is an important clinical consideration. In contrast to preoperative pain , postoperative pain offers little therapeutic or diagnostic value to either the patient or the clinician. A goal common to all therapy is to minimize postoperative pain.

A pulpectomy or debridement is the initial intracanal procedure in root canal therapy. Immediate Postoperative Pain and Recovery Time after Pulpotomy Performed under General Anaesthesia in. The pulpectomy and pulpotomy procedures aim to eliminate pain until the follow-up visit for finishing the root canal procedure. Further occurrences of pain could indicate the presence of continuing infection or retention of vital nerve tissue.

But these complications are best prevented with proper care and managed by postoperative home care such as applying ice packs, having soft foods and prescribed medication, etc. One reason for this undertreatment is the limited translation of basic and clinical scientific findings into clinical practice.

Tramadol taken immediately after treatment reduced postoperative pain following pulpectomy and root canal preparation of teeth with irreversible pulpi-tis. The hypothetical mechanisms for this complication include chemical, mechanical or microbial injury to the periradicular tissue. Instrumentation beyond the apical foramen and apical extrusion of the infected debris seem to be the most. The comparison of mean postoperative pain scores showed no statistically significant difference at immediate postoperative and at the end of 1-, 3-, and 6-month follow-up periods for single- and two-visit groups. Our confirm with the several other studies on permanent teeth comparing postoperative pain and flare-ups in the two groups. Hi doctor, I had pulpectomy on a lower left tooth two days ago.
