Mandibular molar with 4 roots

The incidence of two distobuccal canals in itself is quite rare. A literature search revealed only a few case reports of four buccal canals in maxillary first molars. This case report presents the successful root canal treatment of the maxillary first molar with four roots and five canals.

The aim of this case report is to present and describe the management of a mandibular first molar with four canals in the mesial root and single canal in the distal root. This case report describes the non-surgical endodontic retreatment performed on a mandibular second molar with four seperate roots and canals.

Upper 1st, 2nd and 3rd molars - roots. Lower 1st, 2nd and 3rd molars - roots. Variability in the number of root canals. But some characteristically have, or at least often have, more.

Here are some examples of the common variations dentists know to look for. The number of roots and the prevalence of C-shaped (gutter-shaped) roots in mandibular second molars were. Typically, the mandibular first molar presents with well-defined roots : a mesial root with two canals and a distal root with one or two canals.

Maxillary molars are teeth of clinical interest as they present with wide range of anatomical variations in their roots and in their canals. Apart from the usual three root anatomy of maxillary second molar , few studies have recorded occurrence of an extra palatal root in maxillary second molar making an uncommon ‘four root ’ scenario. A deep understanding of the relationship between root morphology and periodontal destruction is crucial for periodontal care. PRIMARY MANDIBULAR 2ND MOLAR WITH FOUR ROOTS AND FIVE ROOT CANALS: A RARE ENTITY. The mandibular first molar generally has two separate roots with a roun or more frequently elliptical, canal in the distal root and two canals in the mesial root.

It has shown to exhibit variations in canal number and configurations and the commonest variation is the presence of four canals in cases. Here, we describe a mandibular second molar with four roots and canals: two mesial and two distal. Mesial roots were separated in the cervical one-third near the cervical margin, while distal roots were divided at.

Abstract Although four-rooted mandibular fi rst molars have been observed on a few occasions in the literature, to the best of our knowledge, four-rooted second molars have not been reported. Endodontic treatment of a mandibular second molar with four roots – A case report and literature review. Characterization studies of the mandibular second molar in different populations. A case of unusual root canal morphology is presented to demonstrate anatomic variations in mandibular molars. Endodontic therapy was performed in a mandibular third molar with separate mesial roots.

The appearance of the pulp chamber floor revealed separate canal orifices. Radiographically the root canals ended in their own distinct foramen. The left mandibular permanent first molar in male patients had minimal frequency of RE i.

RE on first mandibular molar in female patients had the most elevated rate i. Bolkreported the occurrence of additional buccal root : the RADIX PARAMOLARIS. Note the severe canal curvatures in both roots of the mandibular molar and in the MB root of the maxillary molar 1. The Anatomy of Maxillary Molars A sufficient root canal treatment in maxillary molars is based on an optimal access to and preparation of all existing root canals. The molars or molar teeth are large, flat teeth at the back of the mouth.

They are more developed in mammals. The name molar derives from Latin, molaris dens, meaning millstone tooth , from mola, millstone and dens, tooth. Normally, the mandibular first molar is the largest tooth in the mandibular arch.

Mandibular First Molar. It has five well-developed cusps: two buccal, two lingual, and one distal (see Figure 12-1). It has two well-developed roots , one mesial and one distal. How wide is the root trunk of the mandibular first molar occlusogingivally when viewing the tooth from the lingual side? Is the crown surface of the mandibular first molar larger, mesiodistally, when viewed from the buccal or from the lingual side?

It usually has two roots but occasionally three, with two canals in the mesial and one or two canals in the distal root. Roots of a permanent mandibular first molar generally have which of the following characteristics? Roots are strongly compressed in a mesiodistal direction. The mesial root has a strong distal curvature in its apical one-third.

Roots have longitudinal grooves on their distal surfaces only. Distal cusp is located buccal to tooth long axis. Distal marginal ridge is short and curves cervically to form obtuse angle.

The cervical line is irregular. Dental anatomy is a field of anatomy dedicated to the study of human tooth structures. The development, appearance, and classification of teeth fall within its purview.

The function of teeth as they contact one another falls elsewhere, under dental occlusion.
