Pulling a tooth that had a root canal

How can a root canal save an abscess tooth? What are potential complications after a root canal? When is endodontic retreatment needed? What is involved in a molar root canal? After all, a root canal tooth is actually dead tissue.

Some professionals feel that it should not be in the mouth at all.

Additionally, there is the issue of jaw bone density. You must have enough bone density in the area of the implant. If you do not, then another procedure of bone grafting will be necessary. Discuss possible bone grafting immediately following the extraction as bone is. You probably assumed that the root canal and crown took care of the initial problem 1. But this is not always the case.

The dentist extracts the nerve and pulp under the decayed or infected tooth. They then clean the tooth and seal it.

Pulp contains vessels, nerves and connective tissues that provide vitality to your teeth. These are the two options for eliminating the infection. I’m thinking of pulling the root canal molar and hopefully having the wisdom tooth replace it, but I was told this may be impossible because my wisdom teeth are growing at an angle into the tooth. I’m thinking perhaps by having the open space from extracting the root canal molar may give the wisdom tooth more room to grow into that space and straighten out, but I have no idea if that would actually work. Proper root canal treatment may fail for some reasons that are beyond the control of the dentist.

A tooth extraction after root canal failed is the only option your dentist has to make sure the infected tooth will no longer cause any problems to your mouth. The reason being that the tooth that has had a root canal has had the pulp (nerves and blood vessels) remove which tends to make the tooth dry out or more brittle over time. This means that the tooth is actually more prone to fracturing the root and or crown of the tooth during the removal process.

I have been dealing on and off with a fistula since then. After the tooth extraction, your dentist may discuss with you about the cost of dental implants or dentures as a replacement solution. Prevention Is the BEST Option for Avoiding Root Canals To prevent the need for root canal treatments, you must eliminate tooth decay through proper oral hygiene and good nutrition. Extraction is always necessary if the tooth is too weak and severely damage that is cannot be repaired or restored.

After a root canal treatment, the dentist can still restore the normal structure and appearance of the tooth with crowns or other suitable tooth repair treatments. A root canal (or a retreat) will clean the canals again of the bacteria and allow the body to resolve any issues in the bone. You may also want to weigh the cost of treatment. Advanced Dental Care of Austin Blog MY TOOTH CRACKED AFTER A ROOT CANAL Tweet We have new patients call us time to time and say “My Tooth Cracked After a Root Canal ” If your tooth cracked following a root canal , chances are you were suffering from a condition known as cracked tooth syndrome.

So will I have pain in the infected root of this one?

Will it be difficult then a normal extraction, or will it be somewhat easier since the roots are filled with those paper files? I have had to wait sometime to be able to do this, and still have to wait till the begining of the year. You have a tooth abscess or infection. After a root canal is complete no living nerve tissue remains inside the tooth , but nerve endings remain in the ligaments that attach the tooth to the surrounding bone.

These ligaments have nerve fiber associated with them that can feel pain. They are the source of any post root canal pain. If the root tip itself was infected before the root canal, there’s probably room for a little excess cement and you’ll never know it was overfilled.

If the tooth was not infected around the tip of the root, that’s when overfilling is likely to cause pain after a root canal.
