Had a root canal years ago and it hurts

In some cases, root canals can be corrected years after the original treatment was performed. Essentially, the dental professional performs the root canal procedure again, including removing the original post and reshaping the canals from the root of the tooth. It is not always possible to rescue a tooth in which a root canal is failed.

You probably assumed that the root canal and crown took care of the initial problem 1. After incessant tooth pain brings you to the dentist, you learn the cause of your discomfort: you have a badly damaged or decayed tooth. You schedule a root canal (formally known as an endodontic treatment) with Evanson DDS and have the procedure completed.

Cracked tooth often went undetected before treatment and one can have toothache after root canal and crown procedure. Missed or untreated canal : Since root canals can vary in individuals, any missed in the treatment of these canals can cause new infection and toothache years after root canal. We had numerous times taken a standard x-ray only to not see anything conclusive. When we finally took the CT 3D x-ray we could see the root had gotten re-infected. However, if the pain persists longer than a few days, the procedure may have caused a complication. Consider the six possible causes of pain after a root canal according to dental health advice from Dr. Richard Mitchell, BDS and take the necessary steps to have it corrected.

Perhaps you had a perfect root canal performed. If I had a root canal , why does my tooth still hurt ? This photo is an xray of teeth with root canal treatments, and sometimes they can still be sore after treatment. There are a number of possible causes of pain after the completion of a root canal. I remember a few years ago , I had a rotten tooth.

I have not seen the x ray and the condition of the root canaled tooth, but usually you have a few options: redo the root canal , extract the tooth and put an implant. I had the root canal done years ago and days ago , it started hurting and has gotten proggressively worse. It hurt for a whole year. My ear, jaw, and head hurt all of the time. I saw an endodontist ( root canal specialist) today.

Last week I started to get very strong ache in that tooth but ONLY when I ate or drank hot foods. Likely possibility that one of the Adjacent tooth or Opposing tooth on the same side of the arch may be having pulpitis.

This could be more like a Referred pain originating from one of the teeth close to the root.
