Can a root canal be redone

Can a root canal be redone? Is a crown really necessary after a root canal? How long root canal takes to heal? Curve narrow or calcified canals are more difficult to clean and shape with the normal root canal instruments, this will cause part of the canals left untreated and allow microorganisms to persist in the root canals system.

Can the root canal be redone more than once?

The question is whether or not that makes sense as a treatment. Root canal treatment is one of the less predictable treatments in dentistry. Lasers are advocated by some for sterilizing the root canal only, but this is not universally done by most endodontists, they preferring other methods. Doctors give unbiase helpful information on indications, contra-indications, benefits, and complications: Dr. Davantzis on can a root canal be redone : Root canals are technically involved.

A root canal treatment can be re-tried several times. In a small number of cases (roughly ) root canal procedures fail and need to be redone. The bigger problem is each time it is re-done , there is less of a chance it will be successful.

Saying a root canal has failed does not mean the dentist or endodontist has done a bad job or that the patient has done something wrong. With proper care, even teeth that have had root canal treatment can last a lifetime. If your tooth failed to heal or develops new problems, you have a second chance. If a root canal has been done years ago and re-causes pain or infection, the tooth can often be retreated.

A retreatment is a procedure of redoing the root canal by re-cleaning the inside of the roots , disinfecting and obtruding each canal. Endodontic or root canal retreatment can be more complicated and technically challenging than initial treatment, and is generally carried out by root canal specialists, “endodontists”, dentists who have taken specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of root canal problems. Pain when eating sweets is usually caused by gum recession, tooth decay or a tiny crack.

None of these are treated by root canal. Do you use tobacco products? I had a root on the canal once. After a root canal there is no pain in that tooth as all nerves are removed. The pain is from the other bad tooth, I would recommend you finding out what payment options your dentist offers.

To be done by a properly trained dentist or an endodontist. You are not clear in describing your problem. Rather than lose the tooth, you should have the root canal redone.

Antibiotics remove the symptoms but not the cause.

I am of the opinion that when an existing root canal fails, the tooth should be extracted and replaced. When a root canal treatment fails, the first course of action is to attempt to redo the root canal treatment. It is usually done by an Endodontist ( root canal specialist) or an experienced general dentist.

After the root canal it seemed to be progressively getting better until today. You may also want to weigh the cost of treatment. Root Canal Retreatment Most of the time, root canal therapy is effective at permanently relieving tooth pain and halting infection of the soft tissues deep inside the teeth and gums. But occasionally, as in any medical procedure, the body may not heal as we expect it to. If this infection is allowed to continue to develop without proper treatment, the infection can potentially spread to other teeth in the area or cause illness in other parts of the body.

The technical term for that is “chemical debridement”. Many root canals are filled as soon as the dentist feels he has done the work of cleaning and shaping. As a result, tissue remnants and infection can be left behind in the root canal system. This serves as a source for failure long-term.

In this paragraph, we will cover the main symptoms that are evident and can indicate the necessity of a root canal.
