What to expect with an immediate denture? Does insurance cover immediate dentures? How long are immediate dentures effective? What are the procedures for dentures? An immediate denture is a complete denture or partial denture inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth.


They go right over the freshly operated-on gum the moment they can, so you walk out with teeth the same day.

Immediate dentures are molded to a patient’s oral cavity prior to extraction and fitted once the teeth have been pulled. The benefits of the immediate dentures procedure are that you will walk away with a full set of teeth. However, as your bones and gums heal, adjustments may be necessary. Immediate Dentures do present certain situations which I would like to list for you.


Since we are unable to try in the denture prior to extracting your teeth, certain esthetic compromises may have to be made. This should not present any significant problem, however, and your esthetic result should be more than satisfactory. This could be to replace any number of teeth.


It may be that the prognosis is very poor for all your remaining teeth (as commonly happens with severe gum disease ), in which case an ‘immediate complete denture ‘. Temporary (or immediate ) dentures are dentures that are inserted immediately following tooth extraction.
